The idea is very well represented! The use of glowing effects and transparency really tops it off.
However, you might want to rethink the colors: blue summons calm feelings and depression if too dark; yellow, associated with red evokes fieriness and excitement. Perhaps if you were to switch the colors for the characters it would be easier to tell who is evil and who is good.
You might want to consider making the glow around the earth softer and thicker than it is there. It could then appear fragile and in true jeopardy. That might help create a feeling of suspense.
